Make the Most of Your RV Service Visit
Sometimes an RV behaves perfectly as soon as it reaches the shop. A short record of what happened can give the service team a better starting point, especially when an issue comes and goes.
Describe what happened, not your best guess
Write down which system is affected, what you noticed, and when it happens. Does the problem appear only while connected to shore power, after driving, during rain, or when a particular appliance runs? A brief video or photo can help when a sound, warning, or leak is hard to reproduce.
Tell the office if you have already tried a fix or if another shop has worked on the same issue. Previous repair records and your RV’s model information can give a technician useful context.
Put the most important items first
Make one list of the work you want discussed and mark any issue that affects safety or an upcoming trip. Share it when you schedule the appointment so the team knows the scope before you arrive. If you remember another concern later, call ahead rather than assuming it can be added on the day.
Leave with a clear picture
Ask what was found, what work was completed, and whether anything still needs attention. Keep the invoice with your RV’s records. A simple service history helps you track recurring issues and remember what was done from one season to the next.
Scout’s note: The detail you almost leave out might be the one that helps solve the problem.
